The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development
(CEED) is an innovation centre that assists governments,
organizations and communities in helping people achieve
their potential through entrepreneurship. We help build
"local capacity for local solutions." Our mission
is to nurture entrepreneurship in people by acting as
a catalyst in the areas of Entrepreneurship Education,
Research and Program Design, Professional Development
and Community Entrepreneurship.
A Brief History about CEED…
CEED
began in 1993 as an entrepreneurship project with a primary
goal of developing a curriculum to introduce entrepreneurship
to the public school system in Nova Scotia. It was a joint
venture funded by the Nova Scotia Department of Education
and the Canada/Nova Scotia COOPERATION Agreement on Economic
Diversification. The Agreement was managed by Nova Scotia
Economic Development and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities
Agency. In December 1995, the project formally became
known as CEED and expanded its focus to include youth
outside of the public school system. CEED left the Nova
Scotia government in July 2002 to become a not-for-profit
entity.
Today, CEED is devoted to helping people discover and
use entrepreneurship as a vehicle to become self-reliant.
It has a broad mandate covering many areas of entrepreneurship,
and has a vision of a vibrant, self-reliant entrepreneurial
culture not only for Nova Scotia and all of Atlantic Canada,
but worldwide.
CEED PEI:
In December 2003, a not for profit Corporation was formed
on PEI to operate as CEED PEI with the same mandate, curriculum
and programs as CEED in Nova Scotia.
